David Brannan is an educator, author, technology developer, and lifelong pole vaulter. After more than 28 years in public education, he now brings his experience in teaching, technology, and coaching to EProfessor and AthleticPeak Pro.

Throughout his education career, David worked as a classroom science teacher, district-wide instructional technologist, curriculum technologist for the Alaska Native Education Program, and information technology director. He also coached track and field, connecting his professional work with a sport that has shaped his family for generations.

David is a second-generation pole vaulter. His father, a Wyoming state champion in 1953 and 1954, introduced him to the event and coached him through his early development. David won Utah state championships in 1985 and 1986, set a state record of 16 feet (4.88 meters), and earned high school All-American honors.

An athletic scholarship took him to Brigham Young University, where he set a school record of 5.45 meters in 1991. During his collegiate career, he won five Western Athletic Conference championships, qualified for five NCAA championships, and earned collegiate All-American honors. He also achieved the Olympic qualifying standard ahead of the 1992 Barcelona Games.

David has authored three books on pole vaulting and produced Women’s Pole Vault, an instructional video featuring Stacy Dragila, the former world record holder and first women’s Olympic pole vault gold medalist.

His current projects extend those interests into software. EProfessor draws on his background in education and instructional technology. AthleticPeak Pro connects his experience as an athlete and coach with a platform built around a continuous, athlete-owned training record—one that stays with the athlete across programs, teams, and coaching relationships.

Pole vaulting remains a family pursuit. David’s best masters mark is 4.22 meters, and attending the Reno Pole Vault Summit with his children has been a favorite family tradition.
